Why do you want to change?

The problems you will have if you are not using a modern
machine will be with drivers and the likes. If the machine
is not powerfull enough you will take a performance hit. You
will NEED at least 256Mb RAM to get anything to run.
We have been hit with the reverse problem, a machine that
has come in with XP on, and W98 can not be installed,
because the video drivers are not available for W98 ( the
generic one refuses to work also ).

Have changed all the desktop settings back to Classic, but
it still has differences when you try and do every day
things.

Its a Athlon 1GHz laptop, and the K6-3-450 desktop machine
it's replacing is faster when it comes to Word Processing
etc. Also a lot of the games that were on the old machine
just refuse to run - Microsoft responce - you will have to
get new versions of the games. I've told the supplier to
either sort it out or replace it <g>.
