In a nutshell and from memory. The first attempt to compile InterBase 4.0
under windows was done with Borland C++ 5.0, it failed due to a bug in C++
5.0. The Borland development team for C++ were approached and asked to fix
the bug. They didn't, so we used something else, as time was pressing.

Over time, things have changed and it is feasible to compile InterBase using
C++Builder for example, but it takes a little bit of work.
