have you looked used the SQL Monitor to see the traffic which is being
generated?

I would suspect, I don't use IBX myself, that IBX is first retrieving
the metadata for the table/query tables/columns and then prepareing the
query and executing it... Having a look at the SQL traffic would show
you this, you could step through the execution.

Have you tried posting the message to the InterbaseExpress newsgroup at
Borland? I would suggest that would be the better place for IBX
questions.
