It's definitely TCP/IP

Hardware: Win 98 server and client.
No indexes except on primary key in either database.

The Access connection string was
Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data
Source=D:\Projects\Firebird\FMS.MDB;Persist Security Info=False
