From time to time, I have seen it suggested on this list that to allow an
operator on the server to access files directly, as shown above, while
clients are accessing the same files over the network, can lead to
corruption. It was further suggested that to avoid this 'localhost' should
be used.

Can anyone state categorically that this is so?
