Beside my "production Linux", I have a "plain vanilla" Gentoo Linux
in a VM. Tried the same PHP script there -> same results. (and no
PDO error)

I'll remove PDO from my "production PHP" anyway - as I don't use it,
it doesn't have to be installed. And fewer error messages are always
a good reason :-)

Unfortunately, no one replied in the Gentoo Bugzilla yet.
