Thanks Philippe - that was the kick - having tried various options over
the last few weeks - and had to start answering questions about windows7
- simply finding time to dig through more reams of pages is part of the
problem :(

I've updated to 5.2.10, but the problem was actually with SELinux. While
I had disabled the Firewall, I had also to disable that to let the
firebird traffic through - but only for Apache, Flamerobin had no
problem with it enabled.
