Firebird myself, I never did and do not plan to do it. I come here on
my free time after I got requests from users to try to solve this
problem.
But the fact is that I have to do it if I want that PHP Windows
releases provide all the features we have on the other platforms. The
CRT compatibility issues are real problems and that's why I have to
build the clients myself.
Lester, excuse me but I will simply not reply to your question, it
makes no sense to argue again and again with you about what we should
not do, especially as nothing has been done in months. That's why I
have to play the fireman here to be sure that the PHP firebird users
will have the drivers on Windows in 5.3.0 and later.
It is also not correct to mislead the users with wrong information or
with a good technical background, doing so did not help in the last
six months and I doubt it will help in the next 10 years. If you think
that running ourdated versions on windows is fine, please do, but do
not give such advices to the community.
Now, if the PHP Firebird users think that what I'm doing here is
wrong, useless and they do not need it, then fine. I will stop this
effort and go back to some more interesting activities. But I feel
that you do not represent the majority.
Sorry for this not so peaceful post, but I'm tired of clueless rants
and misleading mails (internals are full of them when it comes to
firebird). But thanks to the constructive replies in this thread, I
have now enough information to go further and propose solutions or
builds to test.
Cheers,
