Lester, I'm pretty much with you here. There's no point on having some
"special compiled client" -- never heard of something like that. But
anyway, this is going to lead us no-where! so, just let it go.

If Pierre wants to compile his own fb client that's ok. On the end it will
work anyway whether people (as usual) use the one from firebird's install or
from some php package.
