I don't bother about MySQL, but I do know that the mysqli driver is needed for
ANY new version of MySQL. The mysql is maintained for compatibility with older
versions? Transactions do depend on which table type you select, and a lot of
the 'claimed' facilities are only available under specific configurations.
Getting something 'firebird like' needs a lot of care, something I think Jim
is now finding and I don't think we have yet seen any off his MySQL work released?
