Subject Little Success Story
Author Steffen Heil
Hi

I just want to tell you that I had a very nice surprise today:
We upgraded some of your servers
from: jdk1.4.1, tomcat4.0.6, jaybird1.0.1
to: jdk1.5.0, tomcat5.0.28, jaybird1.5.4

We measure the time our servlets need inside our code, so tomcat
optimizations are NOT measured and do not affect the following:
THE CODE SPEED IMPROVED BY 700% !

Servlets which used to need 700-800ms now run in 100ms. (Yes, huge
calculations here.)
Since we also upgraded our cms during the process, some of this performance
gain is up to our cms, but I really believe most of the performance boost is
due to the newer jaybird and maybe it's default settings for the connection
pool.

So the new jaybird libraries seem to be up to 6x as fast as the older ones.
Roman, great work, keep it up!

BTW I can assure, that jaybird1.5.4jdk1.4 does run very stable on jdk1.5.0.

Regards,
Steffen
