I am going to develop a java based(JSP-Servlet) huge student base
automation system.On a MVC framework with tomcat and a database.I
first think about mysql but I see that there is no Turkish language
support with its jdbc driver.I have used older versions of interbase
and it has got some bugs I have noticed.I have to print Turkish
character to database and index them and use them.I wont develop a
database depedent on any RDMS I like to swich it when there will be a
possiblity of a malfuctioning so I like to ask you that if I use
firebird as my database system and use it for only basic storing
fuctions will I have a regret on that?.if not is there any free
database better?

I am using a sun-solaris 2.8 machine with sparc cpu...
