I'using 1.3.1_04 and there is no -server switch for Java 1.3 (you have to install server hotspot seperatly). So i use client hotspot.
I don't think it's a bug in JVM because 12 days ago my app was working fine (besides the memory leak in the driver), but now it finishes from 1 second to another without any message.

I've seen simular problems many times with Java applications.

What JVM do you use ? This is well-known problem that at least Sun JVM
versions 1.3.1_03 and 1.3.1_05 are really unstable on Linux and
Windows platforms when "-server" switch is used. Try using "-client"
mode or 1.4.1 JVM or JVM from another vendor.
