Hello all,
[Hackers] is the mailing list for the open source
database consortium, an organization that got started
last November as a way for open source developers to
compare notes and promote open source databases to
the larger world.
Anybody interested in this?
Cheers,
Ann

Folks,
For the February 8th meeting of the San Francisco PostgreSQL Users' Group,
we'd like someone to help with a comparison of current version database
features. Specifically in demand is someone to compare MySQL 5.0 with
PostgreSQL 8.1 but if someone from Firebird or Ingres showed up we
wouldn't turn them away.
The goal is for this to be a hard-nosed geeky comparison of actual features
and how well they work, not a comparison of brochureware. Also, anyone
coming from another database project will need to be somewhat tolerant of
light heckling; the PostgreSQL people are a bit partial.
Ideal would be someone who's had to implement complex applications on
multiple database platforms.
Any referrals?
