Are there any user defined Firebird functions (Windows/Linux) for
reading/parsing XML?
I've not been able to find anything in Google (and Helen's book
doesn't mention XML).
What I want to do (and what I'm currently doing in Oracle) is hand an
XML document off to a package and let the package parse the
information from the XML.
This is incredibly handy for passing complex parameters from a
program into the database.
I currently have a request to build several applications targeting
both Oracle and Firebird as deployment databases. The Oracle
implementation uses packages and XML passing to isolate applications
from internal database changes. I'd like to take a similar approach
with Firebird.
I know there's several libraries out there I could probably wrap into
my own UDF, but I first want to see if I'd be reinventing an existing
solution.
