Subject Firebird website

Hello all,
Thanks to the floods of complaints Pavel and I have received about the
problems at SF, Pavel has wisely decided to disable the creation of user
accounts. The web admins and active project members' accounts will be
retained; the others have been backed up and we will look for a better way
to run user accounts on the site.

It's really no loss: something around 700 of you signed up but nobody has
ever used the web forums in all the time we have had them.

To those who offered to mirror: thank you, but we don't have any need for
it at the moment. It's not SF in general that's causing our problem, just
that one area. It seems txtForum is good for small things but it doesn't
handle the larger volume well.

I've just walked in the door from 4 days away at the OSDC conference, with
limited scope or opportunity to do stuff online, but I'll try to put an
update into Development>Web today or tomorrow. Actually, Pavel is very
good at finding new and better tools for our site so I'm confident you
people won't be out of [interactive] contact for long.

cheers,
Helen
