A bit old, but not totally out of date. MySQL has addressed
some of the negatives, but Firebird is still better ;)

Another interesting point is the fact that PHP4 came with
MySQL 'built in' in many builds, but the PHP5 version has
dropped that reliance, apparently because of changes to the
MySQL licence, since MySQL is not as 'free' as Firebird.
Perhaps we could persuade the PHP camp ...
