Here is my problem, I cannot get interbase 6 to allow me to start it as
user interbas and I do not want to run it as root, any ideas???

I get this message from ibmgr when I try to start interbase as user interbas
on solaris 7:
IBMGR> shut
server shutdown completed
IBMGR> start
operating system directive ftruncate failed
-Bad file number
check $INTERBASE/interbase.log file for errors
can not start server

Here is what I get from interbase.log:
