I think the whole point of open source is that you can guarantee support of
interbase, no matter what Inprise does. Once the source is available, and
there is an active community using it, you can guarantee that any bugs
found will be fixed because you no longer have to rely on a third party to
fix them.

If (in the worst case) you find a bug that no one else has fixed or seems
interested in fixing you can always pay someone to fix it. Try doing that
with Inprise.

The concern that VAR's face that don't make money with InterBase
is not the cost but the support issuses. Can we promise our
users that they will have IB Support?

This is huge in our market, I write for the medical world. Part of
our system is Medical records. If a doctor can not access these
we run into HUGE problems. So Support is Paramount for our
company.

As far as my personal desires, I am commited to InterBase. I have
been for many years. However I can't speak for my company.
