In a post this morning in response to a proposal for an extension to
user defined functions, I regretably characterized a proposal.
Civilized technical debate should be restricted to the characteristics
and merits of a proposal, and should not suggest value judgements on the
overall quality of a proposal. I don't like it when people react
harshly to my proposals, and I'm sorry I wrote what I did. What I
should have said was that the proposal did not appear to based on a
clear understanding of the requirements and the current architecture of
the product and would consequently benefit from significant
reconsideration on the part of the author.
