How efficiently does InterBase handle the case mentioned above?

I am thinking of developing a system that may rely on this type of behavior
fairly extensively and I'm too pressed for time to actually do the normal
crunches of data to see how this flies.

Plus, I am very interested in knowing how much of a load and burden this
would be on InterBase and if its architecture could be enhanced to more
efficiently deal with such a scenario.
