The two that spring immediately to mind are Japhar
(http://www.japhar.org/) which is released under LGPL, and Kaffe
(http://www.kaffe.org/) which is released under GPL.

Both projects are clean room build's of Java VM's and base classes and
should be good candidates for inclusion into the Interbase project.
