I suppose I have been lucky up until now ... some of my sites have been running
for 10 or more years with little in the way of problems. However over the last
few weeks a problem has arisen which is starting to cause grief :(
I have a small suit of programs using IBO on what I refer to as workstations.
These handle ticket printers, announcements, LED displays and other hardware. A
master slave set of programs keep things ticking along, or should do, but over
the last few weeks I've been getting a lockup problem on a couple of sites. One
site has been running for years with the same version of software, while the
other had a change of structure over christmas. Other sites are continuing to
work without the problem, but I am beginning to suspect a recent windows update
is the cause! Both problem sites have had updates applied, while the sites that
are still stable hae had them disabled. Since the problem only happens perhaps 2
or 3 times a week, applying updates on a 'good' site and monitoring could take a
while.
Has anybody else seen problems on sites in the last few weeks where they have
been running without problem for some time? We are talking W2k and XP by the
way. These systems have not been updated since before Vista appeared.
Of cause trying to track the problem is going to be almost impossible, but I'm
trying to restore some of the logging functions I had working in the early days
....
