That change in the firebird.conf (GCPolicy=background) seemed to really
help. THANK YOU!

The program has a click button at the end to launch ("Do you want to do
an auto-backup?") a backup via IBAdmin component set, which I have
modified to fit my needs. I have it set up so that every 15 backups, the
program does a backup/restore combination. Assuming the users are not
opting out of this process, is this enough to keep garbage down? Or,
should I be adding a manual sweep every so often at the end of the
program use?

Just a quick review: FB 2.1 Embedded, Win32 (XP/Vista/Win7), Desktop,
Local connection, Single user.

Here's Dr. Les Feinberg's response (notice how he is showing off that he
is learning Spanish!) Dr. Feinberg is without a doubt my biggest user
(and business partner), running about 18 clinic session per day, each
having a lot of DB activity.

I just installed build #146 this morning. Last night I replaced the
firebird.config file with the one you provided. This morning with all kinds
of other programs running, my usual situation, I made the mp3 for that long
session of Diana's that took 12 min last time. This morning it took 2:12

You may have found the silver bullet! Also, start up of the program was muy
rapido.

I'll let you know more as the workday continues, but this looks very good.
