There is a bug but it appears to have to do with Firebird rather than IBO.

I rely upon Firebird to send an appropriate statement type but it is
returning stSelect on the EXECUTE BLOCK statement. This could have
something to do with me caching statement handles but I'll dig into it more
and see if I can put something together that helps the Firebird team pin
this down.
