As for local and embedded? of it depends.
As a rule when I deploy my app to run on both, then when local (embedded)
the app users has the option of backup and restore. When the user wnats to
use a remote (which inludes a local remote which is what a local install of
the full server would be) I do not give them backup/restore ability. I leave
that to the administrator of the db/server which may well be the same person
for a local remote server setup.
