as far as I remember the problem you described did occur when using
different connection strings; in the meaning of mixing the path
notation, not by mixing IP adresses / hostnames.

I'm using both (IP adresses and hostnames (which willbe resolved to the
IP adresses anyway)) without any problems for years...
