antes de abrir o DM, eu coloco:

Database.Params.Add('PATH=' + PathBanco);

Database.Params.Add('CHARACTER SET=WIN1252');
Database.Params.Add('USER NAME=SYSDBA');
Database.Params.Add('SQL DIALECT =3');

o que pode ser?
