getserverdefaults properties

If I set this property to true, does it means that if I enter on the
dssinsert mode the columns with defaults values declared on the
firebird will be shown in the ibo controls immediately?

If yes, what does this mean ... This can be a bit expensive since the
metadata must be queried. It is found at the help file of IBO
describing the getserverdefaults property. Does this mean that it is
not advisable to set this property to true?
