This is a matter of the character set you are using ( or not
). Since it's not an area I have bothered about, I don't
know and anwser, but basically 'special characters' and
their ordering so that foreign languages are sorted
correctly are handled in this way.

So next question, have you selected a character set for that
column or are you reliying on the default.

The problem here is not in IBO, but in the engine, so you
will get a more complete answer in ib-support - if you tell
us which engine/version you are using.
