64k links work fine, and throttle back to 32k is OK, but
anything less is pushing it - 9.6k mobile data links forget
it <g>

Broadband would be nice, but current projection for here is
never as there is no demand <bg>

So dial up has to be made to work, just needs a little care,
such as asking the questions you are asking. I help things
with a local copy of Firebird at the client sites, and just
download the 'current' stuff, but that depends on what you
are actually doing!
