b) go to IBO TDescendant, loosing a lot of C/S facilities...
In true you would loose only the "magic" of the IB_ Controls (like
IB_Edit, IB_Grid, etc...). Almost all that you can do with TIB_Query
can be done with TIBOQuery since it is only a wraper to TIB_Query.
