The filter property works fine for "boolean" if setup to support
boolean as emulated by IBO. That is using character or number
depending on the server based implementation.

You speak of a component that sets up this filter for you, if this
component is not able to handle this situation properly then you need
to speak with the author of the component (or if you have the source
then fix it yourself). Such a component should allow you to define
how true and false are defined in the database.
