This is exactly what I do. The main query has a parameter of
the 'unique id', and a couple of other queries with the
relevent parameters return the id for the main query. If
more than one record is returned on the sub-search, then
something has gone wrong, and the client can 'correct the
fault' <g> - does not happen very often, but the mainframe
system that feeds data has a flaw <bg>
My local copy of the data is scrolled in a grid, and the id
used to access the master database if required. Most of the
time the data in the local copy is all that is needed.
