i dont have this

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland\Shared\Data\mastSQL.gdb or this one
BROWSEITEMS.GDB in the browseitems sample
or for the csdemo i dont have this
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\Data\employee.gdb

not on my version of delphi3 so iwent and bought the ver 4 pro hope this will let me run the programs

The mastSQL.gdb is not used by the Company demo...the Company demo creates a database called company.gdb in the ..\Samples\Company subdirectory the first time you run it.

The MasterLinks demo uses mastSQL.gdb. Look for it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland\Shared\Data\mastSQL.gdb - wherever it is installed on your machine is what you need as the Path property for the IB_Connection component in the demo.

As for what you are doing wrong...well, tell us what errors are being reported.

(You need to have the ibserver running and you need to have the appropriate client program installed on the box where Delphi is).
