Are you sure it is a bottleneck and not just that things get quieter
over the weekend? I usually find Mondays very quiet here in
Australia, presumably because much of the rest of the world is asleep
or still taking their day of rest.

The main problem I have with the list is that sometimes some messages,
including my own, may be delayed by several minutes or even several
hours. The problem seems very inconsistent and could be from my own
ISP.
