You need the yahoo 'account', but that does not have to be an eMail account. It
just provides a user name for yahoo. I have 'lsces' but yahoo would not let me
use that, so on yahoo I am 'lscesuk'. I presume I set up a Yahoo account some
time in the past and can't get back into that one.

Once you can get into eGroups at <My Groups>, go to <My Preferences> and it
will list your available eMail addresses. <Edit> to include the one you want to
use when posting.

You can then go to <Edit My Groups> and change the eMail address that things
are sent to if you want.
