To those who have yet to come across this problem .....
when building the packages for IBO4.2Eb under C++ Builder 4 professional,
the IBO40WRT_C4.bpk and IBO40WDT_C4.bpk will fail to compile for the
following reason :
the package files for C4 (and C3 ?) were built on a system which has
Enterprise edition installed, not Pro.
Builder 4 Enterprise includes the inet40.bpi and inetdb40.bpi but these are
not included with the Standard or Professional edition.
Borland changed the rules between Builder 3 and Builder 4 because the pro
and enterprise versions of C++ Builder 3 included those files, with a
different name of course - inet35.bpi and inetdb35.bpi (see
http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,20461,00.html for details).
If you have C++ Builder 3 then you can, as advised by Borland, use the files
from that - I suppose you could rename them to suit.
If you have not got version 3, your only option seems to be upgrade to the
enterprise version :o(
As I'm not doing any web stuff, I have sucessfully installed IBO4Eb without
the web packages. Hopefully, I can have some time in my forthcoming lunch
hours to play with it.
HTH.
Regards,
Norman.
PS. Thanks to Helen and Svein for the book recommendations a while back -
Data Modelling Essentials 2nd edition by G C Simsion and G C Witt -
excellent book.
