Hei Svein Petter,
you've paid for a license you've bought yourself the right to use IBO in a
production environment (one developer, free upgrades) for a year and then
you've had to submit licensing at a cheaper rate every six months. I don't
know if this is still true with IBO4, but I haven't heard about any
changes. You don't pay any royalties for using IBO in the programs you
develop, that is, if your customer wants the source code for IBO then they
must get a license as well.
Looking at the component set, IBO4 seems to contain a lot more than IBO3
did. IBO Core, Native Data Access, Native Data Aware Controls and TDataset
Data Access sounds familiar, whilst I suspect all other modules are new to
IBO4 (well, not the Getting Started Guide).
It is surprising that you didn't get IBO to work with ReportBuilder. It
should work with the TDataset-based components (IBOxxx), and I think there
exists ReportBuilder components specifically designed to work with IBO
native components as well. Just ask a separate question in this group, and
I guess you'll get good answers.
Anyway, congratulations with choosing IBO - it's not accidental that it
gets the "Best Database Connectivity" award from Delphi Informant every
year and you'll love it.
BTW: One reason for Jason not replying to your previous post could be that
he never does any work on Sundays. Generally, he appreciates any
contributions to IBO.
