You are trying to clear when you are typing the new entry
in?

I can't check at the moment, but I think that there is a
'ClearOnExit' function.

I presume that the problem only happens when you have, for
example, letters entered, and try to type a number?

Probably you need to 'retain' the number typed, and enter
that back in, so that rather than clearing down the search
string, you just remove the first letters and replace them
with the number.

Just Ideas i'm affraid - no solutions.
