Using the Unidirectional property (which should also be on the TIBOQuery
component) should be just fine. You will need to use this if you are going
to make use of 3rd party components which expect you to work via a TDataset
based component. It will only be slightly slower than the TIB_Cursor
component and it will carry a little bit larger memory footprint, but not
enough to worry about I don't think.
A common thing people do is use the AssignSQLWithSearch( ) method so that
they can allow people to use the nice search mode feature of the TIB_
components and then be able to easily run a report through the same dataset
via a TIBOQuery component (which is TDataset based).
