I am also looking at purchasing one of these products... I would prefer to
purchase the one from the company that is morally in the right... too bad
what the law says...
IB Expert seems to be advancing quicker than EMS QuickDesk, so that would be
my choice if all other things were equal... but, unfortunately they might
not be...
One thing I heard from another list was that the IB Expert programmer was
not paid by EMS so he took the code and left... sounds fair, but is it
true??? Who knows...
Also, just to confuse, there is always Marathon 2 in the wings... (based on
IBO rather than Free IB+)
That's my 2 cents worth...
(ps. I would post to the IBO-Offtopic list... but... I am not sure if there
is one???)
Regards
Colin

Brian,
topic in detail...
Just so that everyone knows, I have spoken with enough people that I am
content not to point fingers at anyone to say who I think is doing the other
wrong. I know enough to know that it is far beyond my reasoning to judge the
situation. I would appreciate it if we would accept that it is a sensitive
situation and leave it at that.
If EMS feels there is a case that would stand up in a court of law, lets let
them pursue that route. Let's not make of ourselves judges and jury,
especially when we really don't know much about the situation. In the real
world we live in, courts are where we go to get a ruling on things when we
can't figure things out among ourselves. For the most part we can and should
respect what comes of them.
I believe in teaching people correct principles and then let them govern
themselves...
If people dealt honestly and as favorably as possible for all parties
involved there would be no need for more than two simple laws. It's a shame
that laws have to be as detailed and explicit as they are, even now. It is a
reflection of our own ineptitude. Also, just because something is lawful
doesn't make it morally acceptable to do it.
One thing I have learned in life is that no material gain founded on harm or
taking advantage of another results in happiness or blessings. All works of
this sort are ultimately chaff in the refiner's fire when all is said and
done. Lip confessions and vain rituals to an idol of any name doesn't change
this.
There is a great judge who sees and knows all, if by no other means than
tapping into our own memories recorded and bringing them to a proper focus
in our own minds according to Eternal Truths. If we pay close attention to
what sources we tune into we can avoid a day of awful shame and remorse. If
we go our own selfish prideful way, the day will come that we will weep and
wail for the mess we have made of ourselves.
In a large measure, we are rewarded in the end with the fruits of whatever
we sow. Therefore, let us be careful about what seeds we plant and what
characteristics and relationships we nurture during our lives. That's really
about all we take with us when we move on from here. The rest is details.
So, on this note, all involved in this conflict will eventually be judged
according to the ultimate laws and justice and mercy will be meted out as is
appropriate... If there is harm or injury being done on either of their
part, I recommend that they make amends and come to a favorable agreement as
soon as possible. Let's leave it up to them where they go from here.
