Firebird is looking at fixes and enhancements so those will be documented
as work proceeds. As for a "differences list", such a thing can only exist
if someone writes one. If you ask, does someone have this task? the
answer is "Not in Firebird." For Borland, I couldn't guess. <g>
The FB releases were going to be "different", anyway, because of bugs
already addressed. You will need to wait a bit to see where security goes
next. The discovery of the exploits was part of a much wider security
review being done by Firebird. There is a project in hand to make some
more radical changes to improve security which, if Borland doesn't want to
cooperate, will make FB a better proposition from the security standpoint.
The Firebird security guys approve of the changes done by Charlie Caro to
fix the particular exploit he fixed. They have invited him to team up with
them for the larger security exercise. Hopefully this temporary difference
will have a positive outcome for the integration of the two trees, rather
than giving rise to an irreversible split.
It's not going to happen in five minutes - it needs a lot of careful
designing and testing. The security team have been fully taken up with the
Exploits since before Christmas so I guess nobody is going to protest if
they want to take a bit of a break from it.
