No SQL driver required to connect.

You do need TCP/IP set up on your client machine and an entry in your HOSTS
file. For this you need to know the name of the server , e.g.
SERVERNAME.COM, and its IP address. Look in HOSTS and follow the models there.

Assuming your ISP has the server program running and you have the client
software (gds32.dll) properly installed, to connect to a database just
start up IBExpert and somewhere (I don't know this interface) enter a
TCP/IP connect string of:

SERVERNAME:/dir1/dir2/andsoforth/MyDatabase.gdb (i.e. a physical path).

along with your user name and password.

The hitch for you here will be (probably) that you don't have a database
created yet.

Your user name and password need to be defined to the server by the
server's SYSDBA. If you have that, you should be able to log in to the
server and run a script to create your database.

Oh, I think you still have a few hours of that ahead. A good start would
be to get hold of the Ops Guide - you can download the betadocs from the
Documentation page of the site in my sig if you don't have them. You'll
need the rest of them, too.

Please be so kind as to join the ib-support list and post this kind of
question there. This list is for IB Objects.
