To be honest, based on a single computer, single user configuration i
always exspect Paradox to be the winner with simple testprograms.
try to add 10.000 records to a table already containing 2 Million
rows - figures may be different?! if such situation does not matter
for your app - ignore it.

Try the same bechmarks under heavy load on network configured dbs (5
user over 10MBit lan, plus ISDN Wan Connection) your paradox app will
become slower...

Again it depends to where you wonna go... Stay on a sometimes
instable DB desktop format (you know thos corruptions). or go to SQL
and beautifull world of client/server.

I am fully aware that my test program is impractical since no

As mentioned above - for a single user config these measure can be
true, running the same app on a network multisuer config, with larger
amount of data should bring you more interesting results :-)

Mail me your testapp and your dbs metadata export file and i will
take a fast look into it, just to make sure your further decisions
will be right.
I can't promise, but i believe i will find one or another things to
improve.
