Am I totally thick or what ?

IBObjects 3.5 and C++ Builder 4 Pro.

I have an IB_Edit on a form, linked to a field via the DataField property
and the DataSource property is also set.
I want to be able to type something into the edit box and have it be used to
update the table in the database via some additional processing.
The problem is that although the IB_Edit shows the field correctly, I cannot
seem to type into it.
All the PreventXxxxx properties are false as is the ReadOnly.

Please put me out of my misery !
