Greetings,
I am very much a newbie to Firebird. My company recently (in the last month)
released and is testing a multi-user application for tracking the status of
construction jobs. The application is being developed in Visual C#.NET.
Our current release is built on Access and needless to say we are having
problems. It is not really an issue of the number of users simultaneously
accessing it but rather the fact that access does a poor job in defragging
the database and simply the fact that it takes so stinking long to access
the database across a network connection (even a 100MB connection). Sadly
enough the database is only about 2-3MB.
Anyway, we are looking at converting the database to Firebird and updating
the application to use the .NET connector.
So, why am I posting to this list? Well, the reason is that I am looking for
a "relatively easy" way to convert my data from Access over to Firebird. I
have done some work with MySQL in the past and found that there are
utilities that will (for the most part) convert your Access Database to SQL
statements that can be run against a MySQL server.
Does anybody know of any such tools for firebird and/or have some words for
the wise that have been down this road before?
Thanks in advance for the information.
Sincerely,
Chris Thornberry
