Subject Sphinx support
Author Lester Caine
I'm assuming this is the correct place to post, but I'm not sure the
right people will be listening :(

I'm trying to set up Sphinx with Firebird using the posted patches both
from the Sphinx site and from firebird.org, but I'm not having much luck
on Linux. Has anybody actually got a Linux install running? I fell at
the first hurdle since the patchs would not even install onto the
relevant files, so I patched manually. Everything seems to compile,
except I see no mention of Firebird ( but also no error from the
--with-firebird flag ) - I've disabled mysql and pgsql in the compile
since neither are available here, and these are flagged as No, but no
'Firebird enabled' or any other error. The installed programs complain
that 'firebird' is not an available type.

Things tried
1/
patch -p1 firebird.src.patch
Gives errors for every block.

2/
kompare firebird.src.patch
I can SEE all the patches, but they SEEM to be the wrong way around
since 'apply' removes the bit I would expect to add, and it will not
save, just creates tmp files.

Manually merging the changes allows things to compile without error and
the installer works - as long as you are 'root' ;)

Can anybody kick me in the right direction please ...
