OK, I think this is fixed now. The installer disabled the Guardian and the
service and from that state they couldn't be started.

The solution was simply to alter the disabled state manually to automatic
for the Guardian and manual for the service and it

has now gone through the script fine.

Subject: [firebird-tools] Failure to restart service

Not sure this is the right forum, but have a problem with an install program
that installs Firebird 1.5 and converts an Interbase 5.6 database.

This is a local install, so a non-server PC and Interbase is running fine on
that. It is a plain Win XP machine.

The problem appears when it has to re-start the Interbase service:

This from the log file:

14:36:53: C:\Torex\Synergy\medilog\Service.log file Reading End

14:36:53: InterBaseGuardian service is stopped successfully.

14:36:53: ...Interbase Service stopped successfully ....

14:36:53: ....Backup of s6*.gdb is Started....

14:49:04: ....Backup of s6.gdb is finished....

14:49:04: ....Backup of isc4.gdb is Started....

14:49:04: ....Backup of isc4.gdb is finished....

14:49:20: .............Check the status of the service InterBaseGuardian for
RUNNING condition.............

14:49:20: C:\Torex\Synergy\medilog\Service.log file Reading Start

14:49:20: SERVICE_NAME: InterBaseGuardian

14:49:20: TYPE : 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)

14:49:20: STATE : 1 STOPPED

14:49:20:
(NOT_STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,IGNORES_SHUTDOWN)

14:49:20: WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 1077 (0x435)

14:49:20: SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)

14:49:20: CHECKPOINT : 0x0

14:49:20: WAIT_HINT : 0x0

14:49:20: C:\Torex\Synergy\medilog\Service.log file Reading End

14:49:20: Fail to start the InterBaseGuardian service

14:49:35: .............Check the status of the service InterBaseGuardian for
RUNNING condition.............

Now when I go into the services panel and try to do a manual restart of the
Interbase Guardian it fails with:

Services

The Interbase Guardian service on local computer started and then stopped.

Not sure if this is caused by the same problem that trips up the installer,
but it seems it is.

Any idea what the problem could be here?
