In trying to get a working setup, I have installed Firebird
3.0.2.32703_0_ on a Windows 7 Professional machine in various
configurations (32 and 64 bit versions, Classic, Superserver etc., with
and without guardian). In all cases the installation seems to complete
successfully. In no cases will either Firebird or Guardian run at end of
installation (start now), when run as administrator or user from
desktop, or when started from command line. (Firebird was uninstalled
between successive configuration attempts.)


There are no error messages and the services are not listed in the
services or processes lists. I'm tempted to think that this issue is
related to permissions or security settings, but see no particular
reason why nothing should start. Can anyone please suggest some things
to try first?
